WICHITA, KS. (THECOUNT) — Colt Tomlin and his fiancee, Haley Weinhold have been identified as the couple killed in a car crash while in Puerto Rico last Tuesday.
Weinhold had recently traveled from Kansas to meet Tomlin, who worked in Puerto Rico as a lineman for Bird Electric out of Texas, working in the massive effort to restore power to the island.
A crash reports says, the couple, from Salina, was traveling in a vehicle when it blew a tire and exited the roadway.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
Colt’s mother says he first went to help in Puerto Rico in December. The 28-year-old went home to Little River, Kansas, in May and his mom says it was one of the hardest days of his life. He’d gotten close to the people of Puerto Rico and wanted to continue helping. source
Weinhold worked at Great Plains Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Salina. Her Facebook page says she was a dental assistant who had graduated from Salina Area Technical College.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
