HUNTINGTOWN, MD. (THECOUNT) — The Calvert County, MD., woman killed Thursday after being attacked by her fiancé’s dog has been identified as Prince George’s County government worker, Jenna Rae Sutphin.
Sutphin, 28, was transported to an area hospital following a violent dog attack that occurred near Cherry Hill Road and Route 4 in Huntingtown at around 7:15 a.m. Thursday. Alarmed motorists witnessing the attack and called 911.
“This was an unusual phone call,” said Maryland State Police spokesperson Elena Russo. “The trooper responded to the scene and found this attack happening. It looked to be adjacent to the front yard, an area that had a lot of brush in it. So the attack was actually taking place in an area outside of what looked to be a fenced-in area of the home.” source
Sutphin and her fiancé have lived at the home for the last seven years. Rocky joined the couple four years ago, Neighbors commented.
Police said the trooper the dog involved in the attack was shot and killed by officers at the scene.
A K9-involved human death investigation was opened into the fatal incident.
