PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT) — Authorities are investigating after a woman, wearing only socks, was found shot dead outside a Springfield Ave Catholic church early Tuesday morning.
The female victim, believed to be in her mid-20, was found shot in the head outside St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, located at 4625 Springfield Ave, Philadelphia, PA. A gun was found laying next to the victim, reports say.
Police say they are trying to determine how the shooting occurred.
The woman, believed to be in her mid-20s, was wearing only socks when she was found near St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church. She was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. source
Police arrived on scene after receiving 911 reports of shots fired in the area of Springfield Ave. The victim was found deceased and a gun was located near the body, police said.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Testing was ordered to in an effort to determine if the weapon found at the scene was in fact used in the commission of the fatal shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
