The Gaston County Sheriff has identified, 26-year-old Katelyn Self, as the deputy killed when a vehicle crashed into a popular eatery in Gaston County, Sunday afternoon.
Another person was also killed in the crash that has been deemed intentional.
Self, 26, who worked with the department for four years, was killed in an “attack” that occurred in broad daylight at Surf & Turf Lodge, N. 14th Street, in Bessemer City, NC.
The driver, who was arrested at the scene, has been identified as Roger Self, Kaetlyn’s father.
A preliminary report indicated Roger Self, the driver, intentionally drove his vehicle into the restaurant.
Several other people were transported to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not released.

CMPD did not provide a motive in the double-fatal crash.
