Houston police a 10-year-old boy found dead in an apartment complex laundry room dryer died from electrocution.
According to police, several kids were playing hide-n-seek and having “Nerf gun wars” throughout the complex when the tragic accident occurred. His mother identified the victim as Fernando Hernandez Jr., a third grade student at Harris Elementary School.
Police are investigating after the boy was discovered lifeless by residents inside a clothes dryer located at, 12300 Fleming Dr., Houston, TX 77013.
Authorities initially said a domestic disturbance ended with the juvenile being stabbed to death at the Falls of Birchbrook apartment complex in the 12300 block of Fleming Drive around 5:45 p.m. source
As the investigation continued, police said they learned that the boy and his brother were playing in the apartment complex laundry room, where the boy was found by his parents inside the dryer.
Medical staff evaluating the victim said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
They rushed the lad to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, police said.
Police said they are working to learn what caused the boy to become unconscious.
