TX Starbucks Employee: “Legitimate Explosive Device” Had Note Attached “Die U.S.A.”

Police say they disabled an explosive device left at a Beaumont, TX., Starbucks. But now we are learning, the “legitimate device” that was rendered safe, could have “caused harm,” and came along with a note that read “Die U.S.A.”

Beaumont police gave the all-clear after removing a suspicious package from a Beaumont Starbucks Thursday morning.

A police spokesperson described the package as a “legitimate device” that has been “rendered safe” but would not elaborate other than to say it is still being investigated. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told 12News that the “device could have caused harm if detonated properly.”

A Starbucks employee who asked to remain anonymous told 12News that a note found inside the package read “Die U.S.A.” source

The package was discovered at the Starbucks located at, 3935 Dowlen Rd, Beaumont, TX 77706.

Employees told police the package had been at the store “for a few days.”

The FBI and BATF are assisting Beaumont Police with the investigation.
