Will Culver, the former cop and now Huntsville, AL., City Councilman who once upon a time professed “driver safety,” has himself been arrested for DUI.

Culver, who represents District 5, was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple DUI related charges.

Culver was booked into the Madison County Jail at 2:26 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to use required turning signals and improper lane usage. source

Culver, who was elected in 2008, said in 2010 that it was “past time to fix a jaywalking problem that has claimed the lives of three pedestrians in the past decade.”

“The evidence here shows that this is a dangerous area that we’ve got to do something about,” Culver said in 2010. “My biggest nightmare is waking up and seeing a police cruiser attending to the death of a child on University Drive.” source

“Nothing else is as important as saving a life,” said Culver.
