Wilbert Hawkins has been identified by Longview, TX., police as the man who died in a crash Saturday night.
According to police, Hawkins, 58, died after being hit by a car in the 3900 block of West Loop 281.
According to reports, Hawkins got out of his car after it stopped working in the inside lane of westbound West Loop 281. Several cars stopped to prevent from hitting Hawkins’ car. A 2015 Nissan Titan, driven by Julio Martinez, 38, of Longview, moved into the turning lane of westbound traffic to avoid striking the stopped car. source
The vehicle struck Hawkins, who was transported to an area hospital.
He was later pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation.
