The family of a missing Korean war veteran took to Facebook to say the man had been located dead on the far south side of San Antonio.
Pete Carreon, 81, has been identified as the body found Thursday night, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Carreon reportedly suffered from Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Authorities were called to 22830 Highway 281 South at about 6:30 p.m. Friday night for reports of a badly decomposed body in a ditch. The location was less than a mile from Carreon’s home. Crews searching for Carreon looked in the area of the abandoned church in their early efforts. They were not able to go onto the property because it was private, fenced and chained shut. source
Carreon had been missing since Jan. 20. The Korean war veteran suffered from Alzheimer’s and dementia. He left his home on North Addison Street in the middle of the night and never came back.
