Mark Eckles and Kevin Gray, both of Statesville, have been named as the Statesville men killed in a violent crash Thursday night in Mooresville.
Eckles, 47, (pictured,) and Gray, 47, were killed when the truck they were traveling in collided with a tractor-trailer and caught fire, according to the Mooresville Police Department.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Oak Ridge Farm Highway (150) and Wiggins Road, near East Mooresville Intermediate School. source
According to Mooresville police, the tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Oak Ridge Farm Highway. The driver drove left of the center line to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle waiting to turn left, and collided with the westbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by Eckles.
