A witness told police the sexual assault happened near the intersection of Arastradero Road and Deer Creek Road.
The girl was running west on the bike path that runs parallel to Arastradero Road–on the north side of the roadway. That’s when the suspect, described as being in his 30s, possibly Filipino, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a black sweatshirt with a bear logo on it–with a white and red border, emerged from the greenbelt and pulled the girl off of the path, held a gun to her head, and then sexually assaulted her, police said. When officers arrived, they found the girl in the greenbelt near the intersection. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital for treatment. source
The victim is said to be doing OK.
The suspect fled the scene.
“Officers and detectives conducted an extensive search of the area, including with the assistance of deputies from the Stanford Department of Public Safety, officers and a canine from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and officers and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol. Police could not locate the suspect and do not know if he had access to a vehicle that may have been parked nearby,” police said in a press release.
The suspect was also wearing gray, baggy pants and black sneakers.
