Austin police are investigating an incident involving hazardous materials crews at a FedEx five miles west of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Austin police said they were called in at 6:19 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 to the FedEx Ground location at 4117 McKinney Falls Pkwy, Austin, TX 78744.
The Austin Fire Department said the they are investigating hazardous materials at the scene. source
Police would not elaborate on the specifics of the incident or if it’s related to the confirmed explosion at a FedEx distribution center in Schertz, Texas, 65 miles southwest of Austin.
In a separate incident, an explosion happened at about 12:30 a.m. at the Fedex facility on Doerr Lane, located near Nacogdoches Road and FM 3009. Investigators said the package was moving from an upper conveyor belt to a lower one when it detonated.
