The teenage boy sent to the hospital after being struck while running to catch up to an Indianapolis school bus Thursday morning, has died, authorities say.
Dalton Bandy, 17, was struck just before 7 a.m., near the intersection of 38th Street and Emerson Avenue while attempting to board a school bus.
A spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the student stepped off the median and was hit by a truck traveling southbound on Emerson.
A nearby bus driver saw the student get hit. The bus driver said the student typically rides the bus farther down the road, so police believe he was trying to catch up because he was running late. source
Bandy was hospitalized in critical condition, but later died. He has been identified as Dalton Bandy.
