Tyisha Timmons has been identified the woman shot and killed while driving a van Wednesday night in the city’s Fern Rock section, say Philadelphia police.
TheCount.com has obtained photos of the victim via a Facebook friend who posted his condolences.
Timmons, 23, lost control of her vehicle after being shot at around 8:30 p.m. as she was driving north in the 5700 block of Broad Street.
The young mother crashed and died at the scene. Three children and two other women who were in the van were injured.
“It appears that the van was struck about at least five times by gunfire. We found five bullet holes on the driver’s side of the van as well as the driver door. That appears how the 23-year-old female driver was shot,” Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said.source
After being shot, Timmons lost control, crashing the van at 5800 Old York Road.
Investigators said the driver suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation; police say they are not ruling out road rage or a targeted shooting.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
