Officials in Arizona say a woman was caught on security video abandoning a newborn child on a restroom changing table inside the Tucson International Airport Jan. 14.
The newly released video shows an unknown woman, who is believed to have given birth inside the airport, leaving a newborn baby in a bathroom alongside a handwritten note:
“Please help me
My mom had no idea she was pregnant. She is unable and unfit to take care of me. Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home.“
Tucson Airport Authority officials released surveillance video that purportedly shows the mother of the child, seen walking through the airport holding something wrapped in blue fabric.
Police say they think the woman may have given birth inside the airport, cleaned the child in a restroom sink and then walked to another restroom near the baggage claim area where the baby was abandon.
The mother’s sad note goes on to read, “I just want what is best for him and it’s not me. Please, I’m sorry.”
TheCount.com is happy to report the baby was found to be in good health after being fully evaluated at an area hospital.
The baby is currently under the care of the Arizona Department of Child Services.
