Two people were arrested Thursday after Smith County Sheriff’s Office performed a raid at The Minute Stop Valero gas station and the Express Beer and Wine store, both located in Tyler, Texas.
Dilshad Ali, 58, and Salin Hussain, 65, of Tyler, were arrested and accused of running a Las Vegas style casino, complete with slot machines and felt game tables, out of their Tyler businesses.
In all, about ten slot machines were confiscated from both highly trafficked establishments.
The Minute Stop Valero gas station in Smith County, as well as the Express Beer and Wine store, were both raided by officials. The raid uncovered an illegal gambling operation at both businesses, owned by Ali and Hussain. Six citations were given to people playing the games and two citations were given to employees of the businesses. source
The couple were charged with keeping a gambling place, gambling promotion, and possession of gambling devices and equipment.
Both were booked in the Smith County Jail and each posted $150,000 bond.
