Whitley Jade Gilbert, the owner Southern Care Group Home in Morristown, TN., has been arrested and charged after allowing nine elderly residents to live without heat for several days amid sub-freezing temperatures.
TheCount.com has learned, this is not the first time Gilbert’s facility has been accused of questionable practises. In may, 2017, a former customer lodged a shocking complaint with the BBB, claiming a family member died three days after being placed in their care.
BBB complaint;
“Paid $700 up front for the month. Mom was there for 3 days,” the unnamed complainant commented. “Dropped mom off oct 31 2017 and she died Nov 3 2017. Was given no refund or proration.” source
The Better Business Bureau scores Gilbert’s facility at a paltry D+. According to them, the home is located at 2073 Ivanhoe Road Morristown, TN 37814.
Gilbert, 26, was charged with endangering nine elderly residents living at the Morristown group home be denying them heat for several days.
She faces nine counts of neglect of an elderly or vulnerable adult.
Gilbert appeared in court in Hamblen County Monday morning. She has been released from jail after posting a $315,000 bond.
