Local Montana news outlets reported that a man found dead while apparently living out of a van parked at the Kalispell Walmart, was ‘homeless,’ but now a woman has come forward saying the man wasn’t homeless at all, and she should know because she kicked him out of a home they shared in November.

TheCount.com has learned, David Martinez, not only had a home, he was also engaged. Kadie Wilson, Martinez’s fiancé, sat down for an interview and lamented about how she ejected Martinez, 61, from their residence after a fight over a medical condition just months ago.

Wilson said Martinez was not homeless and actually had been living in the home until they got into an argument in about mid-November about his condition as a diabetic, reports krtv.

“David came home from the doctor and he told me he had to go on the injectable. A rash started on his leg and slowly, over about a month, covered his entire body,” Wilson said.

Wilson says Martinez told her he was “giving up,” at the conclusion of an argument over his health. He departed the residence and she never saw him again.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said Martinez was found dead in the early morning hours of Dec. 29 in his van that he had been living in in the Walmart parking lot.

Martinez and Wilson’s relationship was no fly-by-night fling, “I met David when I was 16,” Wilson said, “He was my very first love.”

Wilson says she is planning a memorial for Martinez. She says they plan to paddle out into the ocean and spread his ashes over the ocean where he once loved to surf.

Our thoughts and prayer go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
