Baby Shamali Flores, the Texas infant reported missing after her mother was found murdered, has been located unharmed at a Houston apartment complex, police said Thursday.
Houston Police identified, Erica Miranda-Alvarez, as the woman who killed mother, Carolina Flores earlier this week, took 6-week-old baby Flores and fled the scene.
Flores was found fatally stabbed Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Goodson Road in the Greenspoint area of northeast Houston. Miranda-Alvarez, 28, is believed have committed the heinous murder and subsequent kidnapping in an effort to cover up a recent miscarriage.
Police announced Thursday morning Erica Miranda-Alvarez, 28, is charged with capital murder for the death of the little girl’s mother. According to investigators, Miranda-Alvarez knew the victim through the victim’s brother. She allegedly killed the mom and took the baby in an attempt to cover up her own miscarriage, said HPD Chief Art Acevedo. source
