Haines City High School teacher, Robin Dunlap, turned herself in after being accused of sending risque photos to an underage boy living in Texas.
Dunlap, 27, of Winter Haven, was contacted and confronted by the 15-year-old boy’s mother who had located the inappropriate photos on his Xbox One.
Dunlap agreed to stop contacting the boy, whom she believed was 19, however, despite learning his real age and despite mother’s warning, Dunlap continued to converse with the boy on a service called “Kik” and on “Google Hangouts” via video chats, authorities said.
As the conversations between the two progressed they became “extremely vulgar,” with sexually explicit language, police said.
The boy’s father learned about the subsequent contact and called again to confront Dunlap, who then voluntarily turned herself over Winter Haven Police custody.
When asked why she continued to communicate with the boy, Dunlap said it was because he was the “only one who understands me,” police said.
Dunlap was arrested on charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony.
“There is absolutely no excuse for an adult, especially a high school teacher, to continue sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old, long after his real age is revealed,” Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird said. “The vulnerable age of this victim and the fact that this woman took advantage of him for her own personal needs is inexcusable.” source
Dunlap was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.
