The body of Bismarck, ND., native, Greg Wentz, has been recovered after the 70-year-old apparently fell through the ice.
During a search for Wentz, Sheriff’s deputies followed the prints and found a hole in the ice.
Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department responded to a missing person’s report, yesterday, after Bismarck native left his home to take his dogs on a walk and never returned. At the house, first responders found footprints they followed to Burnt Creek which flows into the Missouri River north of Bismarck. source
Tracks indicated Wentz did not make it out of the water and his dogs returned home wet, according to the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department.
Water rescue was then called and later recovered Wentz’s body from the water.
At this time, all evidence points to this this being an accident, according to the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department.
The Bismarck Bobcats took to Twitter to remember Wentz.
