Kevin Rodgers of IU School of Medicine has been named as the person murdered on Indiana’s northwest side Monday morning.
Rodgers, program director emeritus at IU School of Medicine, was found shot dead just after noon at a house in the 7500 block of Ballinshire S. Drive.
Officer Jim Gillespie of IMPD said Rodgers’ wife called police.
“We have a male victim that has lost his life,” Gillespie said. “The family is having to deal with that and they’re frustrated and we’re frustrated, and the whole community is frustrated. Any death is unnecessary.”
Rodgers was the father of four sons, including Cathedral High School senior Danny Rodgers. He also left behind his wife, Ruth. Rodgers served as the assistant lacrosse coach, according to a release by Cathedral High School. Rodgers, who has been at IU since 1998, served as the president of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, where he received both the AAEM Program Director of the Year Award and the Joe Lex Educator of the Year Award. source
