DPS has identified an 18-year-old, Austin Thames, as the teen killed in a crash south of Odessa on Sunday morning.
According to DPS, troopers responded to a call of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 385 17 miles south of Odessa at 5 a.m.
When troopers arrived on scene they found a crash involving a Toyota Tundra. A preliminary investigation of the crash revealed that Thames was driving north on Highway 385 when he may have fallen asleep, causing his truck to enter a curve and roll. source
Thames was transported to Medical Center Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
