Miguel Ruvalcaba, the Keizer, Oregon father critically injured in a house fire, has passed away. His 6-year-old daughter, Brixa, is still listed in critical condition. The blaze occurred in the family duplex in Marion County overnight Thursday.
Officials said 4 other children – two 2-year-olds, a 7-year-old and an 8-year-old, escaped safely. Their mother, Heather Ruvalcaba, was not home at the time the fire started around 11:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Rozilla Court in Keizer.
Neighbors jumped into action after some of the kids ran to a house to report the fire. Neighbor Telese Hoerauf said, “We had heard the kids pounding on their door, I don’t remember what they were saying, but they were saying ‘Daddy, daddy.’” Hoerauf quickly brought the 4 children inside her home and then went back outside to look for the father — Miguel Ruvalcaba and 6-year-old Brixa. source
Fire officials later said the home’s smoke alarm wasn’t working.
A GoFundMe has been set up to assist the family for the family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
