KY woman, Amanda Meade, of Van Lear, has been indicted for murder in the death of her newborn child who police say was killed at the hands of Meade.
According to court documents, Meade, 34, severed a baby’s umbilical cord using a pair of scissors sometime after the infant was delivered at her home in October of 2016.
The newborn died as a result of injuries consistent with a sharp object.
According to court documents, Meade faces between 20 and 50 years in prison if convicted. She is being held at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
