Haley Trantham and Vincent Lee II are the NC couple arrested after deputies and DSS workers discovered the man and woman had been keeping a baby in an upstairs room in a homemade cage, Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood said.
Harwood said deputies were called to a Mars Hill home on Wednesday after receiving a complaint about possible child abuse.
While searching the house, the sheriff said deputies located the infant in the upstairs portion of the house “confined in a self-made cage.” Deputies freed the baby and immediate medical attention was sought for the child. Harwood said detectives learned that the couple was confining the baby in the case for 23 or more hours each day. The child was only being given minimal amounts of food. source
Trantham and Lee were arrested and both charged with two counts of child abuse.
The sheriff said Trantham was also charged with possession of marijuana.
