Young Wisconsin Father GOES MISSING After Falling Into Rock River

Dakota Giese of Janesville, Wis., has been identified as the Janesville father last seen falling into the west side of Rock River near the Mineral Point trailhead Saturday.

Police say, Giese, 21, has not been located and being considered a missing person. They are requesting any information that would place him in an area other than the river.

Janesville police say a witness saw the man fall into the river north of the Centerway Bridge around 6:45 p.m. The witness last saw the man in the middle of the river, where he went under and did not resurface. source

The Janesville Fire Department and Rock County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team searched the area with sonar and divers.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, search efforts were suspended a due to nightfall and river conditions.

Sidney Kranig, who is listed on Facebook as the person “in a relationship with” Giese, has been posting messages to friends and family urging their support in locating him. In one post, Kranig frantically offered $75 to anyone who could provide a boat, apparently referencing her desire to conduct her own search and rescue attempt.

Our hopes and prayers are with the family and friends that this young father will return home safely.
