Toby Burrow has been named as the Alabama man who died from a lightning strike on Lake Harding in East Lee County.

Lee County Coroner confirmed, Burrow, 34, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:35 PM CST from severe injuries from what appears to be a direct lightning strike to the head.

Upon arrival, EMS located Burrow, of Valley, with no signs of life.

It is reported that Burrow and four other people were in a boat on Lake Harding when they were caught off guard by a storm and were attempting to get to land when the lightning struck Burrow and the boat. Two of the occupants of the boat had to swim the boat to land as the strike had disabled the vessel. The other two in the boat performed CPR on Burrow until they could reach land and meet with EMS. source

Two of the four survivors sought medical attention on their own and two did not seek medical aid.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
