PICTURED: Louisiana Man Accused Of Raping Toddler Held On $500K Bond

Golden Meadow, La., man, Eric Matherne, has been arrested after being accused of raping a toddler, officials said.

Matherne, 24, was arrested Thursday on a first-degree rape of a toddler charge, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators said deputies and detectives were notified Tuesday at Lady of the Sea General Hospital in Galliano that a toddler had signs of sexual abuse. The toddler was taken to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, officials said. Investigators said that detectives determined that Matherne was the suspect in the rape of the toddler. Officials said he admitted to raping the toddler. source

Matherne was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
