Police say Richard Grundy III, the leader of the Grundy Crew, was one of three people shot at a northeast side cemetery Thursday during a funeral procession for a recent murder victim.
Police arrived on-scene to the 4000 block of Millersville Road Thursday evening after at least 20 shots were fired. Grundy is listed in serious condition at a local hospital.
The shooting happened during the procession for Jasmine Moore, who was killed last week in a shooting on the west side. As the procession approached Sutherland Park Cemetery, men in a white GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck opened fire. Initial information indicates at least one man was shot in the torso and a woman was shot in the head. Both are in serious condition. A third victim was shot in the leg. The status of that victim is unknown at this time.
One of the victims was confirmed to be Grundy III, the alleged leader of a local drug gang.
The first arrests of the Grundy Crew occurred in late January of 2015 following a police pursuit and shots fired in a north side neighborhood.
