When police arrived they found the driver, 56-year-old Roy Owens, Jr., outside of his wrecked car holding a knife. He was impaired and wearing only underwear and socks. Police say Owens put the knife up to his neck and tried to cut his wrists. Deputies were eventually able to take Owens into custody. When deputies checked the trunk of his 2001 Buick LeSabre they located a dead body believed to be Linnea Satterfield.
Elyria Police Department signed an additional arrest warrant against Owens for aggravated murder.
Satterfield was reported missing Monday, July 17, by her sister after nobody was able to get in contact with her. While searching her home detectives noticed that some sort of a struggle took place. Traces of blood were also found on the floor, according to Elyria Police.
After further investigation, Elyria police detectives believed that Owens, her estranged boyfriend, was holding Linnea against her will.
