Prominent Alabama Attorney Steve Griffith KILLED In HOME INVASION

Prominent Cullman County, AL., attorney, Stephen K. Steve Griffith, at partner at Griffith, Little & Lowry, has been identified as one of the two deceased victims in the home invasion resulting in homicide along County Road 1301 in South Vinemont Monday evening, reports Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.

A second party – Patrick O. Walker, 45, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Walker shot and killed Griffith, the homeowner, when he entered a home on County Road 1301 around 5:00.  They say another person inside the home then shot and killed Walker.

A woman believed to be Griffith’s wife, Mrs. Jackie Griffith, was involved in the incident and was transported to Cullman Regional due to trauma sustained during the incident.

Steve’s practice includes automobile and trucking accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, insurance disputes and a general practice of law.

Steve received his law degree from the University of Alabama in 1968 and was admitted to the Alabama Bar Association that same year. He received a B.S. degree from Mississippi State University.

Steve is a past Alabama State Bar Commissioner (1990 – 1994, 2000 – 2004) and was on the Alabama State Bar Executive Council (2001 – 2002). He is a past member of the Alabama Association for Justice Executive Committee. He is a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; The American Bar Association (Criminal Justice Section); Alabama State Bar Association; American Judicature Society; past President and current member of the Cullman County Bar Association.

The Organization for Competitive Markets awarded Steve with The John Helmuth Award for his outstanding work in Henry Lee Pickett, et al. v. Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. Other notable cases in which Steve has been involved include Steve Donaldson, et al. v. Degussa-Huls Corporation, et al., and Horace Robertson, et al. v. H. Hoffman-LaRoche LTD, et al. In 2010, Steve was involved in the case of Neal v. Williams, representing the citizens of his hometown by successfully recovering assets from the public water department of approximately thirty million dollars and causing the board to which those assets had been transferred to dissolve.

Steve is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. The AV ranking means that legal peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.

Steve is married to the former Jackie Mann. They have two children – Wyles and Sara Frances – and four grandchildren. Steve is actively involved in Cullman County, proudly serving on the Cullman County 911 Board.”
