Popular INMAN Intermediate school teacher, Jeffrey “Jeff” Pierce, was struck and killed while riding a bicycle in Spartanburg County Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred in the Inman area on Hannon Road at the New Cut Road intersection around 8:30 a.m. Troopers confirmed the collision involved a bicyclist.
Trooper Joe Hovis said Pierce was riding a bicycle on New Cut Road when he was struck from behind by a woman driving a 2002 Buick.
The cyclist was wearing a helmet but was ejected from the bike and succumbed to injuries on the scene.
Troopers said the crash is under investigation by the MAIT team and charges are pending.
