PICTURED: Chattanooga Woman Found Beaten To DEATH In Home

Chattanooga Police say Michael Hicks has been arrested over the death of a woman found beaten to death on Sunday night in a residence.

Officers have arrested Hicks, 29, and and charged him with criminal homicide of Sherie Hinds, 40.

Police say the incident happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 3900 block of Caine Lane.

Detectives found Hinds, aka, “Dred,” with marks and bruising on her body that CPD says is “consistent with blunt force trauma.” An affidavit says she was lying on her back in the living room, and officers noticed signs of a struggle. Officers learned from witnesses that HIcks was with Hinds in the home a short time earlier, according to the police affidavit. A witness told officers that Hicks struck Hinds several times in the face. Another witness told police she saw Hicks hit Hinds with a piece of furniture. Both witnesses say they ran away from the scene after seeing Hicks commit those acts, according to the affidavit. source

The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine Hinds’ exact cause of death through an autopsy.
