TheCount.com has obtained the following photos of Dejuan Guillory, the Mamou man shot and killed by police in the early morning hours.
Guillory, 27, was shot dead while police investigated an attempted burglary just before 4:10 a.m. near Chad Lane in Mamou.
An Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputy was also shot in the incident. The officer is expected to survive.
State Police spokesperson Daniel “Scott” Moreau says once the deputy arrived, he made contact with Dejuan of Mamou and an altercation occurred between the two. Guillory was shot during the altercation and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
According to Guillory’s Facebook page, he is married and has two young children.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
