Alabama man, Jason Whorton, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after allegedly pretending to be a “Special Agent” in an effort to coerce three female victims.
Authorities received a 911 call to report attempted sexual assault around 5 a.m. Saturday, June 24. When they arrived, one victim told them that she and two of her friends were at McDonald’s when a man driving a white Dodge truck pulled up and stated he was a “Special Agent” from Marshall County. The phony cop then exited his vehicle and proceeded to check the ID of all three women.
One victim told police that she and her friends gave Whorton the ID’s and he then instructed them to follow him to the Piggly Wiggly in Albertville.
After arriving, Whorton informed one teen that she had “a warrant” out of Etowah County, and that she needed to join him in his truck, and she complied.
Deputies say, at that point, Whorton took her to an isolated area in South Sauty where he asked for sex. The victim told investigators that she refused, became hysterical, and demanded to be released. Authorities say the wannabe cop then transported the victim to a local gas station where he released her.
Based on the victim’s description, police made contact with Whorton after he was spotted traveling in his vehicle.
Whorton, 38, is charged with Impersonating a Peace Officer, and 2nd Degree Kidnapping and is currently being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
