Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a death investigation after a victim identified as James Calvin Hill was discovered in a ditch off of Burdette Road near Howard Drive in Simpsonville, SC.
Hill, 48, was found shot in the head in the incident believed to have taken place on Fountain Inn Drive Saturday morning.
Deputies say they received a call in regards to a gunshot victim shortly before 3 a.m. When they arrived on scene they did not locate a victim, but they did find enough evidence to substantiate the reports. Later in the morning, deputies say they were able to locate the suspected shooter. Investigators confirmed the victim was the same person who made the initial call of being shot around 3 a.m. h/t
The coroner said the victim’s cause of death was gunshot wounds to the head. It was ruled a homicide. An autopsy will performed later today.
