Sheriff’s Deputies in Stark County, Ohio, are investigating the death of two people, and the attempted suicide of the alleged suspect in Beach City.
The victims have been identified as James Stockdale, 21, and Kathryn Stockdale, 54. James and his brothers comprise family musical group, The Stockdale Family Band, TheCount.com has learned. Mother, Kathy, and her family appeared on TV reality show, “Wife Swap.”
Deputies responded to a 911 hang up call made from the 9100 Block of Dolphin Street on Thursday afternoon. When they arrived just before 5:00 p.m., they found two people dead.
The alleged suspect, 25-year-old Jacob Stockdale (pictured above) suffered what deputies believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken by lifeflight to Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Center.
From Kathy’s appearance on Wife Swap:
“Fed up with city living and mass culture, Kathy and Tim Stockdale moved to Ohio to a 150-year-old farm to begin a new, wholesome life. They have given their boys life skills that include clog-dancing and raising their own vegetables and meat. The family band includes sons Calvin, Charles, Jacob, and James, who’ve signed a contract to show up on time to all their household chores or risk incurring a fine. Work is rewarded with tokens so the boys can buy something they want. Kathy home schools them and insists they adhere to wholesome values, untainted by modern culture. The boys have little or no interaction with the outside world, and dating is out of the question, including for Calvin, who is 19 at the time.”

This is outdated and very inaccurate. Those boys had more interactions and social skills than most people their age. They were definitely NOT prisons in their homes and made many, many trips and vacations by themselves, without their parents. They were very well-adjusted young men and I will miss them all greatly.
well adjusted people don't get shot by their well adjusted family member, k? K.
Those children weren't living, they were prisoners. 19 and no dating? No outside interactions?
Tragic.
Hmmm, don't remember her being that way in high school??

Religious fundamentalism makes young people miserable. It literally drives them insane.
