Novi, MI., police are saying the pool in which a father and his young son were found drowned has a depth ranging from only 3 to 5 feet. Residents of the The Glens of Northville apartment complex found the pair lifeless in the community area Tuesday. Cops say a tricycle was also found in the water.
The working theory is that the two came to the pool with no intention of going into the water. They wanted to play poolside but somehow the toddler fell into the water. His dad tried to save him but could not. However, that explanation still leaves lots of question unanswered.
“If anyone in the community happened to be in the pool area, or drove- or walked-by the pool today and saw a father and son playing by the pool, we want to talk to them, call Novi PD,” said Assistant Chief Jerrod Hart, Novi police.
Witnesses tell police the 31-year-old and his 3-year-old son brought a number of toys poolside but had no intention of going in the water. They were just enjoying the early afternoon when somehow they both ended up dying in the pool.
The family is from India and other than his wife and mother, they have no other immediate relatives here. Police are still in the process of notifying family overseas.
