Nearly 1000 CA School Students And Facility SICKENED By Norovirus

At least 952 Yolo County, CA., students, teachers and staff were sick with the gastrointestinal illness outbreak, the Yolo County Health & Human Services said.

The outbreak has been identified and confirmed to the norovirus, health officials said.

“The number of sick people is increasing every day at a very alarming rate,” Yolo County Public Information Officer Beth Gabor said.

Here is the breakdown of the schools affected:

Davis Joint Unified School District (181)
Esparto Unified School District (49)
Washington Unified School District (217)
Woodland Joint Unified School District (434)
Winters Joint Unified School District (39)
University of California, Davis (32)

Symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain, health officials aid. Symptoms can last 1 to 3 day.

Health officials warned the public to stay home for 48 hours after symptoms go away and to wash your hands regularly to prevent the spread of the norovirus. h/t kcra
