Rapper Kevin Gates has been sentenced to 30 months in an Illinois prison over a 2013 gun case and subsequent failure to appear, reports TMZ.
Gates, who has been incarcerated since the end of March, will be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections to begin serving his 2 1/2 year sentence.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois says Kevin appeared in court Wednesday and pled guilty to his original charge of felony gun possession. Remember, the outstanding weapons-related warrant popped up the same day he completed his sentence in Florida for kicking a woman in the face at one of his shows.
A warrant was issued for Gates’ arrest after the “Paper Chasers” rapper failed to appear in court for his 2013 gun case.
