United Passenger Is ‘Doctor’ Who Was Charged With 98 FELONY Drug Counts In 2005

The United Airlines passenger who went viral after being brutally removed from an overbooked flight, is a disgraced medical doctor who was charged with 98 felony drug counts for illegally prescribing and trafficking painkillers in 2005.

Dr. David Dao was accused of fraudulently filling prescriptions for hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet. The good doctor even wrote prescriptions and checks to a patient in exchange for sex. He was eventually given 5 years probation.

In February, 2005, Dr. Dao surrendered his license to practice medicine in Kentucky. In 2015 the medical board lifted the suspension and allowed him to practice medicine with some restrictions. Last year, the medical board imposed even more restrictions — now he can only practice internal medicine in an outpatient facility one day a week. Interestingly, and relevant to the United incident, one doctor assessing Dao’s case said he had interpersonal problems, noting “… he would unilaterally choose to do his own thing.” h/t tmz

Folks on social media piled on United, calling for a boycott of the airline. United has reportedly lost a whopping 250M in value since the scandal made worldwide news.

  • Don't exactly see what this has to do with him getting beaten up by the security guards. Instead of trying to make the victim look like some kind of monster with something that isn't relevant to the situation, place all of that blame on the airline that handled the situation incorrectly, and tried to remove someone from a seat they paid for in advance.

    • How many others have been told to give up their seat and not been combative as this person was. One doesn't behave as he did, I have no sympathy for him, he was looking for a fight, resisting authority. He of all people should understand the word "triage" which is what this essentially was. And for him to yell out he was a "doctor" just tells you how important he thought he was! Was he any more important than any other professional or non professional on that plane? I think not. This is a case of behaving badly and unfortunately he is getting away with it and making a fortune doing it. And the dumbing down of America is supporting him.
