UPDATE: Actor Tommy Ford, best known for his role in ’90s show ‘Martin,’ has died at 52, spokesman confirms. On the morning of October 12 social media started humming with the sad news that Martin star, Thomas Mikal Ford, aka Tommy Ford, had passed away in Atlanta. Blackish star Anthony Anderson echoed the rumor that Ford had died in a tweet. Anderson later deleted the tweet.
Ford’s wife, Gina, speaking to media outlets, said that her husband was alive but in grave condition and on life support at an Atlanta hospital. Reports say that Ford has been hospitalized since October 9 “after an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen.”
Anderson later said of the deleted tweet, “I was given misinformation about our friend. That’s why the tweet was removed. We are all still praying for Tommy. He needs us even more.” On October 11, Anderson had tweeted, “Prayer is POWERFUL! I humbly ask 4 UR prayers 4 a friend. His name is Tommy. They say he may not make it thru the night but miracles happen!” h/t heavy
Weeks ago Ford posted on social media about having knee replacement surgery. A few days before he was hospitalized in the aftermath of the surgery, Ford wrote on social media, “Working really hard in physical therapy! My progress is amazing! Thank you for all of your prayers and words of encouragement! I’m excited about getting back to work!”
