Brownwood, TX., angler, Russell Hair, caught the catch of a lifetime while fishing with his 4-year-old son Cayson, a 41 pound flathead catfish. The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife says the previous record for a flathead catfish caught by rod and reel in Lake Brownwood was 31 pounds and 39.50 inches long.
The record setting catfish was 46.25 inches long and 29 inches in circumference making the catch something that will go down in the record books. It took Russell 45 minutes of fighting with the fish before he was able to get it aboard his boat.
