8-month Pregnant Pottstown, Pennsylvania resident, Briahna Gerloff, tragically died over the weekend after going outside to shovel snow in front of her home.
Gerloff, 18, was shoveling snow with her little brother when she collapsed. Family members and neighbors tried to revive her to no avail. EMS arrived but she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The unborn child did not survive.
Family members say she was eight months pregnant and suffering from several heart defects, including Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW), a disorder caused by an abnormal accessory electrical conduction pathway between the atria and the ventricles. “I told her it probably wasn’t a good idea for her to be outside shoveling. She wanted to do it anyway,” a family member told NBC. “She was a very good person, a caring and loving person and she could not wait to be a mother.” h/t theepochtimes.
A friend has set up a GoFundMe page for Briahna’s family.
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. on 14 E. Second Street in Pottstown.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Briahna’s family and friends at this difficult time.
