Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders passed away Sunday after a hard fought battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was 60.
The Timberwolves made the sad announcement. Earlier this week, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said Saunders would not return for the 2015-16 season.
“Not this year. I just think his illness, I mean, it’s serious,” Taylor told Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune. “At this point, if he came back I still think he’d have a hard time to recover all his energy and all that because he has been in the hospital for a long time.” h/t bleacherreport
Saunders was diagnosed with cancer in June.
