A New Orleans police officer was ambushed while responding to reports of a murder. His condition is not being released at this time.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who had just concluded a press conference about avoiding house arrest, was seen driving up to the hospital treating the officer.
We are currently investigating the murder of an unidentified male in the 3900 Hamburg Street. “One of our officers was responding to shots fired in the area when he was ambushed by the alleged suspect(s). The officer sustained an injury to the shoulder while the suspect(s) possibly fled the area heading towards Metairie on the interstate. Our officer did not return fire.” h/t wlox
The officer was taken to University Medical Center.
