The campus on the University of South Carolina is on lockdown as reports of an active shooter surface.
Police from several agencies are on scene responding to reports of shots fired.
A campus-wide alert was sent to students at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Students, staff and faculty are warned to seek shelter immediately. Police have blocked off the streets in the area of College and Park streets. The Carolina Alert says shots were fired at the Newschool of Public Health. People in the State House have been warned to stay indoors. The grounds are not on lockdown, but security officers at the State House say they are performing building checks and patrolling the area. h/t wishtv
