A Millington, Tennessee school bus driver died from a heart attack while transporting students to school.
After experiencing full cardiac arrest, Doris Hopson, plowed her bus through a yard, knocking down the fence on Big Creek Church Road.
Witnesses tried to help the unconscious Hopson, who was transporting five children at the time.
Student Jacob Harrold, 15, described the moment when the bus slowly, but suddenly, veered off of the road.
“I tried to do CPR the best I could, but it was just a weird position. The bus was tilted and she was kinda laying back and I couldn’t sit her up and she was kinda in and out of it like that, so I was like, ‘OK, I cannot do this. Call 911,’ but nobody had a phone on them,” he explained. h/t kctv5
Harrold and the four other students on the bus flagged down a passing driver, who called 911.
Investigators say Hopson had a health issue, passed out behind the wheel, and died on the scene.
