A Dutch traveler on Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 who joked on his Facebook page about “going missing” is now feared dead.
The passenger, whose name has been withheld pending family notification, posted the chilling message on social media.. ‘If we disappear, this is what the plane looks like.’
The post was in reference to another Malaysian Airlines flight, MH370, which vanished on March 8th with 239 passengers and crew on board. But, seven hours after posting the message, news broke that MH17 travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur had been shot down in east Ukraine and, based on the timing of his Facebook update, it is feared he was on board. The heartbreaking comments left on the post read as a timeline of the grief of his family and friends.‘Happy holidays! I ask of God that no crazy things happen though!’ ‘A huge beautiful holiday together and remember… we expect to see nice pictures.’ ‘Have a great vacation dude.’ source
However, the remarks soon take a sinister turn, with family and friends asking if anyone knew his flight number and wondering whether the man and his partner were on board.
‘Please – this cannot be true?!’ posted a friend
Another adds: ‘People have been known to survive these but it doesn’t look good.’
Several RIP messages soon followed.
